During this 2 week introduction to Microsoft Word and Excel class, students research and document data on two Microsoft platforms while creating a mock pop-up shop

Students learn how to:

  • understand the basics of Word and Excel

  • collect data upon research

  • insert data charts on both platforms

  • create a shopping report with visual images

  • edit your peers work through Microsoft Word

  • create a mock pop-up shop on Microsoft Excel

  • make a expense list on Microsoft Excel

  • input inventory and price lists

  • input cost and profits

  • create presentation styles on both platforms

  • save documents as PDF’s.

Three projects will be worked on throughout the duration of this course, which students will present to their peers on the last day. These projects include:

  • a data report on performed platform

  • a shopping report on Microsoft Word

  • a workbook with mock pop-up shop details on Microsoft Excel.

Length:  2 weeks

Schedule: Classes run twice per week, same days and time, for the duration of the course

Class Capacity: 6 students


If there is 2 or less students registered for the class, the class will be considered a private class. Students will complete all assignments as listed, in a shorter period of classes.

Please arrive to class on time. If you will be away for class, please inform us at op@the-cuttingroom.com. Any cancellation or absences that are not notified within 24 hours of your class will be considered a missed session, no make up class will be provided.

This program does not require approval by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, the registrar did not review this program.

Justine Edralin is a womenswear and accessories designer with over 9 years of industry experience and a proven background in developing full collections. She graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a degree in Fashion Design & Technology and has since designed for renowned Canadian brands (Aritzia, Kit and Ace). In 2013, she started EIGHT EIGHT – a collection of modern, understated leather bags and accessories produced in Vancouver, B.C.
