At The Cut Design Academy, we offer three different programs for students looking to explore the world of pattern making and design: Pattern Making & Assembly Technique, Gerber Pattern Making & Grading, and 3D Apparel Design & Integration. From design software applications to sewing and garment construction methods, we deliver the visual and technical skills needed to enter a global industry.
In each of our 14-week programs, students work on hands-on projects that introduce them to the ins and outs of pattern engineering. Through specialized experience, you can prepare for exciting careers in the fashion industry as Sample Makers, Pattern Engineers, Virtual Image Creation Engineers, and more.
Build a Foundation in Pattern Making & Assembling Technique
Students without any experience or knowledge will need to complete our basic certificate in Pattern Making & Assembling Technique. The programs enable students to become industry proficient in pattern making, fit, and sewing construction. Upon completion, students will construct a 6-piece collection using pattern-making techniques. Courses cover:

Apply Advanced Industry Software & Techniques
At a more advanced level, students can choose from our Gerber Pattern Making & Grading and 3D Apparel Design & Integration programs. Here, you'll accelerate your proficiencies in technical pattern design, development, and manufacturing. Courses include:
- » Industry-grade software such as Gerber, Clo3D, and Browzwear
- » Pattern creation, drafting, digitizing, plotting, and data conversion
- » 3D fit technology & design rendering
- » Research, selection, and commercialization of fabrics and trims
