ABOUT THIS COURSE
Looking to learn the basics of the captivating world of fashion design? The Cut offers you a variety of two-week intensive workshops designed to maximize your industry knowledge within a minimum time frame. In these hands-on workshops, students will be immersed in all facets of the fashion business. In readings, lectures and class discussions, students are taught by industry professionals in small group settings, receiving first-class learning in a real-life business environment, using state of the art digital platforms as well as hands-on hard skill applications. Each class comprises of two levels at 16 hours per week, for a total of 32 hours. Pre-requisites for each class are outlined in each specific course. Acquire the skills you need to reach your academic and professional goals or complement your current full-time diploma or degree program, or simply build a competitive portfolio for graduate program applications to prepare for advanced study.
FASHION DESIGN, ILLUSTRATION & CREATIVE DIRECTION
This introductory Fashion Design & Illustration course challenges students to apply and improve their illustrative technique by conceptualizing and executing a tightly-edited 12-piece collection. Students learn how to take their initial design inspiration and interpret it for a specific target market. This course will focus on development of high-fashion croquis figures, illustration techniques and textile rendering, utilizing multimedia tools to implement color into the sketches. A final professional presentation of the 12-piece collection includes mood and fabric boards, technical specification drawings, retail costing and marketing strategy.

Length: 2 Weeks / Monday – Thursday
( August 3rd is a holiday, class will run on Friday instead of Monday on this week)
Capacity: 8 students only
If there is 3 or less students registered for the class, the class will be considered a private class. Students will complete all assignments as listed, in a 3 hour class instead of 4, students are welcome to stay after class for one hour to make use of the studio.
This program does not require approval by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, the registrar did not review this program.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Magali has a diploma in Design and Modelism from l’Institut Superieur des Art Appliques in Paris and has been working for 12 years for the fashion industry with successful brands. She started her career at Maje in Paris as a knitwear designer and was quickly involved in the collection process from concept to final fit for 8 years. Fully responsible for ensuring that product was consistent with market trends and business strategy. She is experienced in sketching and rendering, creative, innovative, attention to detail and focus on brand’s DNA, she has strong ability to create and design into a concept utilizing her strong management skills and excellent leadership. Magali developed brands based in Amsterdam. She worked for Zoe Karssen and Les Coyotes de Paris where she set the overall direction. She has traveled to meet suppliers globally (China, India, Portugal, Italy, France, U.S., Turkey) and developed a strong factory network that delivers the appropriate product. She has spotted and developed new techniques and innovative fabrics sourcing.
Jinju majored Fashion design at Visual Collage of Art and Design. One of the selected graduated student for opening Jason Matlo’s runway in Eco fashion week and one of the designers in VCAD 81 lbs challenge for Eco Fashion week showcase. Internship at Jason Matlo and junior assistant designer at Roxanne Nikki.
