Ready to master the fundamentals of sewing in just two weeks?

Join one of the most practical Sewing Classes in Kelowna with our 2-week sewing intensive — a fast-paced, hands-on training designed for beginners and hobbyists eager to build strong foundational skills in a short amount of time. Whether you’re preparing for a career in fashion or simply exploring a creative passion, this intensive is the perfect place to start.

In just two immersive weeks, you'll learn everything from threading a machine and stitching seams to reading basic patterns and assembling garments — all under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.

With 32 hours of expert-led instruction (16 hours per week), our sewing intensive combines practical demonstrations, interactive discussions, and real-time feedback in a small-group format. No prior experience is required — just your curiosity and creativity.

Overview


If you're new to sewing, this is the course for you. You'll start with the basics and learn to cut and sew garments and accessories. You will create a sample book which includes seams, zippers and bindings. The projects you will make include a lined tote bag, a sweatshirt, a button-up shirt, and more.

Whether you join us in person at our Vancouver studio or choose the Online Live format, every class is structured, hands-on, and guided by expert instructors.

We support you always:

  • One-on-one guidance from instructors

  • Certificate of Completion available on request

| In-Person Learning at The Cut:

  • Learn in a fully equipped fashion studio with access to industrial and domestic sewing machines.

  • You can either bring your own materials or purchase kits at the studio.

  • Receive individualized support from instructors in a small-group setting.

  • Collaborate, explore fabrics, and work side by side with peers.

  • All tools and materials are sanitized and provided where needed.

| Online Live Learning

  • Join live classes from the comfort of your own home via Zoom.

  • You'll need:

    • A basic domestic sewing machine

    • Scissors, measuring tape, fabric, and pins

    • A quiet workspace + stable internet connection

  • Projects are demonstrated step-by-step by instructors.

  • Ask questions in real time and receive feedback.

  • Access recordings if you miss a session.

  • Submit assignments and share progress via our online portal

Housekeeping:

  • Students will receive a welcome email with instruction and materials a week before class starts

  • All materials can be bought from school or you can bring your own

  • Please arrive to class on time

  • If you’re going to miss class for any reason, please email in advance to let us know. If you fail to report your absence within 24 hours, your class will be considered a missed session and no make up class will be provided

  • Classes with 3 or less students will make the classes run 3 hours each day

Meet your professors

Nargas Khabazha

Nargas opened her first studio in 1997 as a pattern maker for her own clothing line, specializing in women's special sizes. She gained recognition in the Vancouver Sun and North Shore News as a realistic designer. In 2002, she launched a ready-to-wear collection for sophisticated baby boomer women, selling nationally. Nargas has over 40 years of experience as a fashion technical instructor in pattern making, draping, fitting, and textile development. Since 2008, she has supported her students in showcasing their designs at Vancouver Fashion Week twice a year. A Montreal native who moved to Canada in 1984, Nargas began her career with a handcrafted shoe store and later pursued fashion design at LaSalle College and KPU Polytechnic College. She continues to mentor her students, guiding them to successful runway shows.

Carla Jones

Carla is a passionate multi-disciplinary creative with a sharp eye for the details that make great product design. They are a graduate of LaSalle College’s fashion design program, with a focus on technical development and design. Carla has since worked at Lululemon on their Product Innovation team, where they supported the development of a female-focused apparel line for ultra-marathon runners among other exciting projects. Carla now focuses on teaching, building their personal brand, and pursuing creative projects with private clients.
