Explore the world of 3D design with our hands-on SketchUp course in Vancouver, tailored for aspiring interior designers, creatives, and professionals looking to enhance their digital modeling skills. This 36-hour immersive program is structured to help students quickly master the SketchUp interface, modeling tools, and techniques for practical use in real-world design projects.

Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine your digital design skills, our SketchUp course in Vancouver begins with foundational tools such as lines, faces, and the push/pull technique. As the course progresses, you'll explore group creation, object modification, applying and creating textures, importing CAD plans, and producing presentation-ready scenes. By the end of the program, students will have developed a comprehensive understanding of SketchUp’s design environment, culminating in a final project and presentation.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course, the student will learn
Basic practical Tools using Sketchup software to create 3D models up to scale
Producing 3D views to be used as a part of presentations to clients
Design development tool to enhance Interior Design projects.
Completion Requirements*
The Cut Academy will use the following grade scale to determine each student & grade through their work. N/A for part-time programs.
Students must receive a complete or incomplete.
Materials required*
*Software (Trimble for Sketchup) - compatible with Windows only.
Method(s) of Evaluation*
Practical assessments: Students will be evaluated on their participation in practical projects during the class
Demonstration: Students may be required to document their work through live demonstrations.
AutoCAD:
Introduction to the software, environment preparation (tool palettes, units), line, faces, push/pull.
Group Creation, Copy, multi-copy, move, reference points
Rotate, Texture application.
Texture creation, scale, 3D gallery
Group/object modifications, explode, hide, Import CAD plans
Field of view (elevations, export views to CAD)
Scene creation, field of view, walkthrough video.
Profile modes, final presentation

Meet your professors
Nikki Renshaw
After a lifelong passion for art and design, Nikki decided to focus their energy on fashion. They are a graduate of Blanche MacDonald’s fashion design program, and their designs have been featured in Schön Magazine and Folklr Magazine. After graduation Nikki moved on to commission-based work and is now focusing on enhancing their personal brand, as well as teaching and styling.
Hector Alvarez
Hector, a seasoned Architect hailing from Mexico, boasts over 18 years of experience in designing and constructing his own projects. In 2012, he and his family relocated to Florida, USA, where he pursued managerial roles in Healthcare Facilities across various cities in the state. By 2015, Hector had moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to further his education in Interior Design, earning a Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design from LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV).
