Overview

The Advanced Nail Techniques Workshop is designed to elevate students' nail care skills to the next level. This intensive workshop delves into advanced techniques and concepts, providing hands-on training and in-depth knowledge in sculpted gel structure, precise nail shaping, safe E-filing, flawless prep, pinching and form customization, and gel fills and repairs. Students will refine their craftsmanship, develop artistic abilities, and gain the expertise needed to offer high-quality nail services that meet client expectations.

Required: High school graduation or equivalent or mature student status (19+)

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Master sculpted gel structure techniques to create durable and visually appealing nail enhancements.
  • Perfect various nail shaping styles, including square, coffin, stiletto, and almond, to meet clients' preferences and fashion trends.
  • Understand the principles of safe E-filing, minimizing damage to natural nails while achieving desired results.
  • Achieve flawless nail preparation, ensuring proper adhesion and longevity of nail enhancements
  • Learn effective pinching and form customization techniques to create nail enhancements that fit clients' nail shapes.
  • Acquire expertise in gel fills and repairs, efficiently maintaining and fixing existing nail enhancements.

    The evaluation methods for the Advanced Nail Techniques Workshop include practical demonstrations to assess proficiency, skills assessments to evaluate technique execution, portfolio or project assessment to review mastery, peer feedback, and critique to encourage constructive collaboration, written assessments or quizzes to assess theoretical knowledge, case studies or problem-solving exercises to evaluate analytical and solution-oriented skills, and instructor observation to provide immediate feedback and guidance. These evaluation methods enable instructors to comprehensively assess students' practical skills, knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and overall proficiency in advanced nail techniques, ensuring their preparedness for successful careers in the nail care industry.
     

    Meet your professors

    Heidi C

    Heidi has been a makeup and hair artist in Vancouver since 2010 after leaving her job as a flight attendant. Her journey started from a makeup counter to a bridal to commercial. She has worked hundreds of weddings, has been published over three dozen times and is currently agency represented. She worked for many brands on the market, was a trainer with a French luxury brand and is currently a studio makeup artist with another.

    Iki Lee

    Iki has been a professional Makeup artist and hair stylist in Vancouver since 2019. After graduating from Blanche Macdonald, Iki has developed well-rounded makeup skills in beauty, editorial, body painting, and special effects. Iki takes pride in getting her clients camera-ready and flawless for their big events – whether on-set or on a wedding day, she honed her skills working for production, fashion shows, photoshoots, and weddings. Iki is currently a Union member of IATSE 891 and ACFC 2020 and the Head of the Makeup Department for JoyTV. Her body painting work has been exhibited nationwide, including the Museum of Anthropology (UBC), Telephone Gallery (Vancouver), The Bows (Calgary), and Maison Des Artistes Visuels Francophones (Winnipeg). She has also worked on numerous fashion campaigns includes: Casca, Understance, Thom., Montecristo, Vancouver Fashion Week, Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week, and the list goes on.    With all those experiences, she finds her true passion is using makeup to tell a story and design a character via the aesthetic and artistry details.
