Kat Boucher
Kat Boucher developed her love of fashion, thrift shopping and costuming from a young age. Sewing was always a hobby that brought joy to her life. Completing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Victoria in 2015, Kat moved to Vancouver to become an Emergency Room Nurse. Now working as a Trauma Nurse at Vancouver General Hospital, Kat has decided to take her passion to create to a new level. She retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 10 years of service, and completed The Cuts’ Pattern Making and Assembling Technique Course. She is looking forward to gaining more experience in design and the fashion industry, seeing where it may lead. Her other interests include roller skating, acroyoga, drag styling, and international travel.
Katrina Sawan
Having started her fashion design studies at LaSalle College in Montreal, Katrina went on to get her Bachelors and Masters in fashion design at the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris. Her graduate collection was featured in Paris Fashion Week. Since then she has had internships with various fashion brands around the world in Paris, Tokyo, Berlin and Antwerp. She has gotten her pattern making experience from working with brands like Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Ann Demeulemeester. Katrina has also recently worked as a Pattern Maker for Haider Ackermann in Antwerp. Having rounded out her skills by taking classes at The Cut Fashion Design Academy, she is now a Pattern Maker at The Cutting Room here in Vancouver.
Komal Chharahhan
Komal Chharahhan, founder and creative director of Ginni Gill, is an Indo - Canadian fashion designer. Her love for garment making began at the age of 13 when her grandmother introduced her into the world of sewing by making Indian wear for special occasions. Her passion for learning different techniques soon turned her newfound love into a business. Fashion design naturally became a creative outlet for Komal to experiment with. After immigrating to Canada at the age of 19 she started building her drawing skill set. Soon after that she began her fashion career at the Visual College of Art Design where she studied fashion design with a speciality in fashion marketing. With a keen interest in pattern making and garment construction, Komal has acquired a range of expertise. Adept in technical skills such as drawing, computer- aided design and pattern drafting Komal has gained a love for teaching all that she has learned. Komal began her teaching career in fashion design at the Cut Design Academy in June of 2022 in Vancouver, BC.
