Currently enrolled in TCFDA’s 2-year Diploma Program, entrepreneur Ghali Alissami arrived in Canada as a Turkish refugee. He is pursuing this line of study to acquire the needed professional academic and technical knowledge to help launch a career as a fashion designer.

I cringe when I read 'sustainable fashion' online or 'sustainable' as an adjective to sell everything from cheap shoes to over-hyped seminars. The dilution of this word makes it as meaningless as 'natural' or 'organic.'

International Student Hanae Yaskawa is a shining star at The Cut Fashion Design Academy! This young American came to Canada to study Technical Apparel Design at a Lower Mainland design school, and once completed, decided to take her pattern-making skill-set to the next level with additional courses at The Cut. It is so important when entering the workforce as a young person to create a wide-open door for opportunity.

Allie Turner captured the essence and importance of the brand co-founded with her partner Emma Reynolds. The Vancouver silk fashion brand recently launched Edition II, consisting of silk two-pieces.

Not only is Kelsey Holden a fashion designer with her own label Metta Lane, but she is also an Instructor at The Cut and former student! Not content to follow the old-school approach of following a single path to a career, Kelsey has veered out of her lane and is now building highways to take her everywhere.
Joanna Delaney ~ Accomplished Bridal Designer Joins The Cut
We are more than excited to announce the newest industry expert to join The Cut Fashion Design Academy is accomplished and well-respected Joanna Delaney. Joanna has been working in the industry for many years running her own custom bridal business - Joanna Delayne Studio. She will be teaching Pattern Making, Couture Pattern Making, and Technical Pattern Making instructor.
Cosette Isherwood ~ The Path to Parsons
Congrats to another Portfolio Prep student accepted into parsons with a $25,000 USD scholarship! Cosette came to us in the Fall of 2020 full of ideas and optimistic energy for her 2021 application to Parsons. She began the process with sketch after sketch and we quickly saw her collection develop into a modern streetwear version of studio 54 style, completely representative of her energetic personality.

When you have to compose a resume for your fashion business, it is crucial to make it stand out even if you are going to certain style extremes, which is acceptable if one considers that you follow a certain trend and the factors that reflect your creative vision. While your resume must show all the necessary information and the contact details, doing it for fashion must be different style-wise because otherwise, it will turn into a dry list of facts that talk about your fashion shows and education. The trick is to keep people interested and inspired as they encounter your personality.
